Interpretation of the appearance of sinus symptoms on the eyes

When the sinuses become chronic and for long periods of time, the bacterial or viral infection moves from the sinuses to the different parts of the eye due to the following:

The spread of the sinuses above and between the eyes, in addition to the presence of maxillary sinuses located on the sides of the nose below the eyes.

The tissue lining the sinuses is very thin, and it shares blood vessels and lymph vessels with tissues in the eyes.

The presence of direct contact between the eyes and the nasal ducts through the nasolacrimal duct.

The accumulation of mucus in the sinuses and its lack of drainage also causes pressure that spreads in the form of pain in and behind the eyes, in addition to a headache that appears to be coming from the eyes.

The pressure can affect the blood circulation in the eye, resulting in sudden and intermittent blurring of vision.

Relief of sinus symptoms on the eyes

The treatment of sinus symptoms on the eyes is to get rid of the mucus and inflammation accumulated inside the sinuses themselves and prevent it from spreading to the surrounding areas, and thus the specialist may prescribe a group of drug treatments, some of them are mentioned in the following:

Decongestants:

They are drugs that help shrink the lining of the nose and thus stop gonorrhea. They are usually in the form of a spray that targets the sinuses directly and does not take time to absorb, and often causes dry mouth.

Antihistamines:

They help stop allergy symptoms and get rid of gonorrhea, sneezing and mucus congestion.

Steroids: They are drugs that can be taken in the form of oral pills or nasal sprays. They are very effective for getting rid of sinus congestion and runny nose, and they take a few days to show results.

Antibiotics:

It is the most important treatment to get rid of the bacteria accumulating in the sinuses that cause inflammation inside them, which spreads to the eyes, where the dose prescribed by the doctor must be taken completely even after the symptoms disappear.
